Kevin
Lucas is an innovative award-winning filmmaker whose genre-bending
films have played in international festivals around the globe
including Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Moscow, London, Rome,
Montreal, Toronto, New York, Sundance, Sydney, Melbourne,
Brisbane and more.
He
has worked as writer/director, editor and producer on numerous
self-initiated films, many of which are seen as contemporary
artistic classics in Australia including

Born
in Sydney Australia, Kevin grew up in rural New South Wales.
He was a State swimming champion by 7 years old, had made
his stage debut by 8 years (appearing as Toad in
A A Milne's classic "Toad of
Toad Hall") and was shooting his first 8mm movies
by 9. He later studied as an actor under the Stella Adler
trained Australian actor/director Owen Weingott playing leading
roles in Arthur Miller's "A
View from the Bridge", William Shakespeare's
"Merchant of Venice", JB Priestley's "When
We Are Married" and Bernard Shaw's
"Major Barbara".
After flirting with an architecture degree - which
he abandoned to follow the finer arts - Kevin went on to graduate
with honours in Film & Theatre Studies and English Literature.
Soon after he became artistic director for a Youth Theatre
project, designed and ran Children's Television workshops,
directed and produced short videos, theatre and short films
whilst also working as a professional musician.
Previously
an executive board member of the IMZ, an
international arts media alliance, Kevin has also served as
a Board member for the Australian Screen Directors'
Association (ASDA) and the affiliated collection
society ASDACS, and is an inaugural member
of the Music Council of Australia. He has
served as a Juror for the International
Emmy Awards on several occasions and is a card carrying
member of the Australian Writers' Guild and
the Australian Screen Directors' Association.
