MusicArtsDance films to present OWL SONG in preproduction to the Cannes Film Market 2009
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Following several years of development, filmmakers Aanya Whitehead and Kevin Lucas of MusicArtsDance films will present OWL SONG to the Cannes Film Market 2009, being for the first time in preproduction stage. The project is financed as an Australian Producer Offset film certified under the new legislation which attracts a 40% rebate on Australian expenditure. The film also has equity, local distribution, insurances and gap all in place.
OWL SONG is a feature film based on the most celebrated woman composer of her time who at the height of her career is diagnosed with a serious brain tumour and given five days to live. When she slips into a coma her closest friends Yehudi Menuhin and Anais Nin are left with the responsibility to decide what is best for her and are divided about what to do - is it more humane to let her die, or should they do whatever they can to save her life, even if she may not fully recover her faculties?
With the powerful idea that life can triumph over death because the gift of imagination is irrepressible, Owl Song is a bittersweet tale with an emotionally rich and dramatic storyline that weaves together ambition, love, loss, friendship, music and sex into a compelilng narrative about an inspirational woman who at the height of her career was heralded as the most important female composer in the world, including creatiing history by being the first woman to ever be commissioned to write an opera in the USA.
With filming to commence in September 2009 in Australia, OWL SONG is seeking presales at Cannes for several international territories.
