Spain
Arts Festival screens MusicArtsDance films
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Four iconic film works from the collection of MusicArtsDance
films will be showcased at the Harmonia Festival in Spain in
September 2007 with filmmakers Kevin Lucas and Aanya Whitehead
invited to attend.
The collection, all
award winning, were selected to express the arts through film
involving subjects and themes that focus on meaningful cultural
and human experiences.
For cultural reasons,
some of these films are unable to be screened in Australia,
however, in the current climate their relevance to an international
audience is critical in that they portray an important slice
of Australia’s true history in a powerful and artistic
way. The films include:
Black
River: Dir Kevin Lucas (1993)
Three Knocks on the Door – the Magic of Philippe
Genty: Dir Kevin Lucas (1997)
Urban Clan: Dir Michelle Mahrer (1998)
The Diaries of Vaslav Nijinsky: Dir Paul Cox
(2002)
Says Festival Curator Maria Goretti “Films created by
MusicArtsDance Films each touch on separate genres within the
realm of creation. To see the mastery of work created by theatrical
master Philippe Genty, those that have been heralded as the
masters of dance - Nijinsky, voice of indigenous Australia telling
the impact of the injustices suffered and sung by one of the
world’s supreme mezzo sopranos - and dance created by
Aboriginal group the Bangarra Dance Theatre which presents the
modern aspect of ritual indigenous dance. All these films
are being screened as an expression and an inspiration to those
that create within the realms of music, theatre and dance.
Harmonia is a platform to trigger and inspire those that come
to participate in the event.”
The
collective of films are screening from 7th-9th September in
Almeria Spain, and will be later toured to various parts of
the country.
